Has anyone every noticed that Ratchet rhymes with 'hatchet'? But then, I suppose it also rhymes with 'patch-it', so I guess all is well...
Anyway, I finally decided to have a go at coloring in that Instinct sketch of Ratchet, Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker. (In case you missed it, or couldn't deduce this for yourself, the dun is Sunstreaker, the bay is Sideswipe, and the paint is the lovely-tempered CMO Ratchet.) And jah, anyone going, "Holy cowpies, Sideswipe is SO RED!", yes, I know. I swear, I sampled colors from a photograph of a blood bay in ambiant light, and had to even tone it down from there. Yikes. Poor Swipe. He'll have to settle for glowing in the dark. But there really are horses out there who are that red.
Apart from the highly glowing blood bay, I sort of like how this turned out. Yay!
(And for anyone who has no idea what 'Instinct' is, I don't blame you. It's a silly fic I wrote about Transformers being turned NOT into humans, but into horses. Hey! Point and laugh all you will, but I had fun writing and no illustrating the darn thing. )
Oooh. Two awesome things combined into one!
Transformers and horses - who'da thought, eh? I love it so much! o3o
It's a really neat idea, and they're drawn so well.
Preeeeeety. I think Sunstreaker is the prettiest. (To which comment he'd probably give me a whithering look, wondering how anybody could possibly be so stupid as to think otherwise.) The little blue flowers are a nice touch, too, and I like the color variations in the distant hills...it's always nice to see an artist spend time making a worthwhile background to support the figures.

Actually, I did this sketch the day I met a horse who looked *exactly* like I depicted Sunstreaker here -- except I actually toned the mane down for this pic. He was the most gorgeous little golden dun stallion with all this mane and tail, and I was like, "Omigosh! Sunstreaker!' So I drew this.
Thanks for nice comment on the background. I was actually sort of mad, because I liked how the hills behind Ratchet's butt turned out, and when I turned on the horse layer...poof, they were hidden. But oh well. I know they're there.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to step aside while Sunstreaker preens some more. *preen, prance, preen*
Well I'll have to let Sunny preen just a bit more, because he certainly is gorgeous here. Though I must say that Sideswipe and Ratchet too are beautiful in this. I agree that the little blue flowers really do add to the piece. I'm so glad you decided to color this pic, it deserved it and it came out wonderful. Great job, Starhorse, they look great! *hands each horsie a carrot and sneaks in a sugar cube for the head mare herself *
