Fred and George: Autumn by The-Starhorse Fred and George: Autumn by The-Starhorse
For :iconweasley-detectives:'s Autumn/Halloween Contest. Yellow doesn't scan for crap, so I put a little bit of curves on this in PS so you can see it better. It still doesn't look half as good as the original, and the curves burned out some bits, but oh well. I have to find a better scanner.

Watercolors + pencils. I love autumn. I love Fred and George. Autumn + Fred + George = Horse will probably be drawing more like this.

I don't usually ask for fullview, but because of the yellow, fullview would be nice.

I'm going to gush. Prepared? Okay.

This is a wonderful composition. Let's start with the background. First, I love how the trees frame the twins, but don't make the picture look confined. I also really like the color...the hazy yellow gives it a sort of afterlife-ish look (the white void works there too), so it's almost like the two of them are meeting in some other world. And their coloring - the brights/darks - really draw the eye towards the center, right to them.

On the other hand, it also just looks like two brothers strolling through an autumn forest. So I love how it works on both levels.

Aw, thank you so much. I really love watercolor, enough to stick with it, I think. I have a lot of work head of me, but thank you, it's nice to hear that some of my early attempts are turning out ok. This medium is really fun, and it's actually making me think about composition more than digital work ever did. I don't know why that is, but for some reason, when I'm faced with blank paper as opposed to a blank screen, I think harder.

Sorry about the late reply, by the way. I've been kept away from the computer for the last several weeks, but I'm getting caught up now. (I hope.)
